Inspiration Titles

In our opening ('The Night of the Unkown') we took inspiration from the titles of 'Se7en' when making the credits by listing contributions by the group into segments and how we should present it.

  • The titles of 'Se7en' show that the production company titles names go first, which is what we included in our first time lapse shot of the house and the statue in the background. This shows the importance of the production company as the most important one goes first, and is then followed by 'Vision Productions' which suggests that they were our secondary production company.

  • What went second was the actors names. This is what was used in 'Se7en' as they put Brad Pitt first, suggesting that he was the leading actor as he had the leading name. We too also put the main actor as the leading role in the credits. Patrick Wilson comes one shot after, giving the impression that his role isn't as dominant and is then followed by Vera Farmiga who has a territory role, however the fact that these names are on the opening means that they each play an important role.

  • What we didn't do that followed 'Se7en' was the title was shown in the first thirty seconds. Ours differs because we haven't shown the title till the end of the opening where we have taken note from the opening of the first insidious opening title where there is a jump scare at the end. We have also included a jump scare because 70% of people on our survey said that they would want jump scares. We felt that the titles from insidious were more effective than in 'Se7en', and as a result we have based our main title on the 'Insidious' title which is why we have used a black background and a red font with roughly the same font which is basic but classic, suggesting that film's narrative relates back to a dated period.
